The Fort St. James Primary Care Society (FSJPCS) is committed to supporting and fostering the growth of future healthcare professionals in Fort St. James by offering a sponsorship opportunity for community members planning to study in healthcare-related fields. We recognize the critical role that healthcare professionals play in ensuring the well-being of our community and are excited about the job opportunities available at our new hospital and regional health centres. In addition to the $500 bursary we award annually to a Fort St. James Secondary graduate, we are pleased to announce a sponsorship program for community members entering healthcare-related fields of study not directly from high school.
Our sponsorship program includes a financial contribution of $1000 towards the tuition expenses of the recipient. Additionally, we are excited to offer a $500 bonus to recipients who choose to return to our community and contribute to the local healthcare workforce upon completing their education.
To be eligible for the sponsorship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Live in Fort St. James or the surrounding communities the FSJPCS supports.
- Plan to enroll in a healthcare-related degree, certificate, or diploma program that has a 6 month or longer completion time and use the $1000 sponsorship towards tuition.
- Express a sincere interest in contributing to the local community by returning for employment post-graduation.
Interested applicants can apply between May 1 and May 31, 2025 by emailing a completed application, including their resume to amccormick@telus.net. Applications will be rated on a points system. Priority will be given to those with experience working in healthcare. Payment of the $1000 towards tuition will be made when the successful applicant provides the FSJPCS with a letter from the registrar that proves they are enrolled in a healthcare related program. The deadline to provide proof of enrollment is May 31, 2026. The $1000 payment will not be made after this date.
The Primary Care Society Board of Directors does not issue statements of explanation for applications they elect not to fund.
